WIRELESS SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance new and existing wireless services in the area of location based services (LBS).
  • Responsible for product evaluation, project initiation, client and system requirements generation, vendor selection and management, design, development and testing. This is a unique opportunity to apply technical and business skills for product development.
  • Responsibilities center on leading large, multi-department teams to cooperatively design and develop strategic business initiatives in the wireless network.
  • Interact with vendors to identify, specify, negotiate, and deploy software and hardware solutions, sometimes including creation and management of an RFP/RFI process and negotiation of contracts.
  • Interface with internal teams such as marketing, other engineering teams, and IT to understand user, device/handset, billing, provisioning, alarming, capacity/demand trending, operational, administrative, and revenue assurance requirements.
  • Responsible for end-to-end system design, development and in ensuring that product/service is deployed on time with a high quality.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with mobile device platforms (BREW, RIM, Android, iOS, Windows Mobile), and wireless network technologies and protocols (XML, Mobile Web, MAP, ANSI-41, IS-801, J-STD-036, OMA MLP, SUPL, Device Management, AGPS, AFLT, 3GPP RRLP, LPP, SIP, XMPP, Wi-Fi, microlocation, GSM, CDMA, EVDO, Mobile IP, DNS, LTE, etc.) are required.
  • Ability to test, troubleshoot and determine root cause of technical issues is critical for this position.
  • Knowledge of LBS applications including navigational products for mobile devices, family locator, and other applications using mobile location functionality is highly desirable.
  • The candidate must have an understanding of precise and coarse location, as well as device-initiated and network-initiated location determination procedures.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter, and should be able to work in an unstructured and rapidly changing environment with or without direction.
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication and presentation skills are critical for this position. The candidate must have superior engineering, design, requirements specification, project management, and analytical skills.
  • The candidate must be organized and detail-oriented.
  •  Ability to work individually or in a team environment are critical.
  • Bachelors or a Masters degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science along with 5+ years of relevant work experience with a wireless service provider or wireless equipment supplier is REQUIRED.
